Designing Lives Empowering Women

Rotary Club of Historic Jackson Heights in conjunction with Custom Collaborative, a (501 (c)3)  New York City-based workforce development program will put together a day of educational training on the history of the garment industry (specific sewing techniques) and discuss job seeking tools for  students, women from low-income and immigrant communities enrolled in the workforce program.

The project “Designing Lives Empowering Women” will benefit 150 students and 5 educators. Students will learn about the standard techniques and ethical business practices of the garment industry, the right tools for resume prepping and resources that will aid them in overcoming barriers to employment.
