At the Rotary Club of Historic Jackson Heights, we believe that some of the world's greatest challenges can be addressed when compassionate people turn concern into action.

Our humanitarian projects support the spirit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—a global vision for a world with less poverty and hunger, better health and education, stronger communities, greater opportunity, and a more sustainable future for generations to come.

Fighting Hunger. Restoring Hope. Strengthening Families.

One of the most basic human needs is also one that millions of families around the world continue to struggle to meet:

Having enough food to put on the table.

During the COVID-19 crisis, this reality became especially urgent for low-income working families with children.

In Usiacurí, Colombia, families already facing economic hardship found themselves confronting an even more difficult question:

“Where will our next meal come from?”

We knew we could not look away.

Through our Feed a Family Outreach Program, the Rotary Club of Historic Jackson Heights mobilized compassion into action, supporting vulnerable families with essential food assistance during an extraordinarily difficult time.

But this initiative represented much more than delivering food.

It meant dignity.

It meant a family knowing they were not alone.

It meant children having food on the table.

It meant replacing uncertainty—even if only for a moment—with hope.

Our Feed a Family Outreach Program reflects the spirit of SDG 2: Zero Hunger and Rotary's commitment to serving communities wherever the need exists.

What begins with one food package can become something much greater.

One donation can help feed a family.

At the Rotary Club of Historic Jackson Heights, we believe education is one of the most powerful forces for transforming a child's future.

Education does more than teach us about the world.

Yet for many children, beginning a new school year with basic supplies—backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other learning materials—is not something they can take for granted.

Through our School Ready Campaign, we work to help change that.

By providing essential school supplies to children and families in need, we help students enter the classroom prepared to learn, confident to participate, and inspired to dream bigger.

Because something as simple as a backpack can carry much more than books.
